Tips on approaching litigation revision
These materials are designed to work best as part of a wider revision strategy.
Here’s the approach that worked well for me:
- Start with the full examinable syllabus
– Read through the syllabus in detail before condensing it.
– This ensures you have full coverage and aren’t relying only on summaries. - Create concise revision sheets
– Use the syllabus to produce short, structured notes like the examples here.
– Printing them off, highlighting key points, and annotating them with your own insights can make the content more memorable. - Practice with mock papers and questions
– Apply your knowledge under exam-style conditions.
– Afterwards, review every answer carefully. - Learn from mistakes
– Make notes on any questions you got wrong.
– For civil exams in particular, I found it useful to write the correct answer on a post-it note and stick it in the relevant section of the White Book. That way, when revising, I could see both the rule and my corrected understanding side by side. It also assisted in the open book exam.
This cycle of syllabus → summary sheets → practice → error correction helped build both confidence and accuracy in the run-up to exam
